Anatoly Bovyanski, lecturer at ARC Academy – for the desire to share his experience with future artists
Anatoly Bovyanski is an alumni student at ARC Academy and lecturer in the Foundations in Digital Arts preliminary program. His main focus is illustration, concept design, and tattooing. Drawing is his greatest passion, and his goal is to constantly develop in different directions. He specializes in horror art, which holds a special place in his heart. Toli is eager to share what he’s learned to help others navigate the same challenges he has overcome. Besides his love for art, he also enjoys music, gaming, and psychoanalysis. Find out what inspires him and motivates him to be creative in this interview.
What projects have you worked on so far?
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of various projects across multiple fields. I was involved as an art director in the development of a student game project at ARC Academy. Moreover, I’ve worked as a character designer and illustrator. Projects involving illustrations for album covers and merchandise for metal bands hold a special place in my heart.
What are the most valuable lessons you have learned professionally and during your time at ARC Academy?
The importance of good communication and meeting deadlines and tasks are the most valuable lessons I have learned. Working as part of a team has shown me that it is important to overcome personal ambitions and self-confidence in order for a project to be successful. This not only makes the process more straightforward but also improves collaboration, leading to greater efficiency.
Do you play video games for fun? What are your favorite games right now?
I’ve had a passion for video games since I was a little kid. I’m currently playing “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice”. I love single-player games with interesting stories and worlds that inspire creativity and enrich my cultural worldview.
What motivates you to be a lecturer in the Foundation in Digital Arts preliminary program, and what would you like to pass on to the trainees?
My key motivation to become a lecturer is to help people who want to develop their skills. I believe that experienced professionals should always share their knowledge and encourage young talent rather than keep the secrets of the craft. The Foundations in Digital Arts preliminary program will introduce the most important principles of visual art in a structured and easy-to-understand way. As a mentor, I will commit to passing on the experience I have gained in the most effective and practical way and helping participants build a functional and useful portfolio.
