How is a Slot game made? (masterclass)

Students in ARC Academy took part in a masterclass “How is a Slot game made?”. In two sessions, our partners from EGT Digital shared insights behind the process of making a slot game, from the idea to the final product.

EGT is an international company with over 20 years of experience in the iGaming industry. The company’s representatives talked about the nature of their work and game development in the casino world.

In the first part of the masterclass, Desislava Georgieva, senior graphic designer at EGT, explained to the students what slot games are and how they are positioned among online games. She also shared what kind of specialists work on a slot game and what skills are needed to create one.

In the second meeting with the students, Desislava and Emil Pashov, a 2D animator and graphic designer, talked about the main stages in the process of creating a game.

Emil shared his experience making slot games and navigating real projects in the iGaming industry. He handles character-building and leads creative activities at EGT. The class covered the stages of bringing a product to life, from coming up with ideas to bringing the game to market.

The masterclass also had a practical part to help students consolidate their knowledge on the topic. In the first session, students were divided into several teams and tasked with designing a home screen for a slot game with ancient Egyptian motifs based on assigned characters. The assignment for some of the teams was Isis, the goddess of magic and femininity, and for others – Osiris, the god of the dead. The teams were busy researching references and facts around the assigned deities, and in the meantime, Desislava answered students’ questions about the specifics of working in a real-world setting.

The process of working in the second part of the masterclass went through the stages of sketching, refining the illustrations and presenting the final creations. At the same time, Emil helped the students and shared potential situations that may occur in a professional work environment.

Our partnership with EGT Digital gives us the opportunity to continue organizing activities together to show our students real game industry processes and prepare them for their future careers.
