Senior Level Designer, Ubisoft Sofia
Professional Experience:
Katya Pateva was inspired to play with level design in games since her childhood, using game editors such as the Age of Empires and Warcraft 3. After studying Game Design and Production in the Netherlands for a year, she got hired as a Junior Level Designer in Ubisoft Sofia in 2013. There she had the opportunity to create immersive worlds for AAA games experimenting with a variety of tools and technologies. At the moment Katya is a Senior Level Designer specialized in world-building for open-world games.
Work highlights:
Some of the highlights in Katya’s portfolio are games, such as Assassin’s Creed Rogue, Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Origins – The Curse of the Pharaohs DLC, and Tom Clancy’s The Division 2®. Her pride and joy are Marais Rocheux in Assassin’s Creed Rogue and the Green Mountains region in Assassin’s Creed Origins, both of which praised for their openness and design, by media and gamers alike. Another big work highlight in Katya’s work is the internal level design training that she designed and delivers, to help new coming level designers’ induction in Ubisoft Sofia.
