The focus of the masterclass is the economy and progression systems in the freemium/free-to-play part of the gaming market, as well as the role of the Game Economy Designer. The subjects addressed, however, can be easily applied to premium games.
At the end of the course, the students:
- Will have a better understanding of the main elements of a freemium game
- Will be able to define rules and basic systems of progression for games and the way in which they interact with each other
- Will have an overview of the economy and resource flow in a game
About the speaker:
Mihai has 17 years of experience working in game development. As a game & level designer, he worked on a handful of mobile games, among which we can mention N.O.V.A. 2, N.O.V.A. 3, and Modern Combat 5: Blackout. He spent the last 6 years focusing on game economy and monetization systems. After specializing in Game Economy Design, Mihai balanced the players’ experience for titles such as Sniper Fury and Sniper Champions. His teaching experience includes several years of collaboration with Bucharest Politehnica University and leading the economy design internship program at Gameloft Bucharest.
