Mihail Ivanov graduated from the Concept Art program at ARC Academy in 2023. His professional development in the game industry began during his studies when he began working as a 2D Concept Designer in Evolution Engineering Bulgaria. Find out how the academy contributes to his practical development by reading how he answered this question and more:
Which program did you complete at ARC Academy, and when?
I graduated from the ARC program with a 2D profile.
What are you currently working for – in which company and in what position?
I have been working as a 2D Concept Designer at Evolution Engineering Bulgaria for the past year.
What do your job duties involve?
My duties are about developing an idea, concept, or vision for a game that is tailored and based on the game specification. My duties include polishing and bringing the approved designs to a final look. Another of my responsibilities is to export all game assets to be available to other teams.
What projects are you working on so far?
I’m currently working on games that the company has planned for release by the end of 2023 and I’m illustrating a few freelance projects that I can’t say more about for now.
What was your favorite part of your time at ARC Academy?
My favorite part about ARC was and is the “journey” itself. That is, the human factor, the people I met and got to know, with whom I enjoyed, argued, brought closer, and worked together, this is for me the most priceless and favorite aspect of my two years at the academy.
How did studying at ARC Academy help you get started in the studio?
I started working even before I graduated from the academy, but the lecturers’ professional advice and knowledge they gave me during the training unlocked in me the desire to develop, learn, and improve myself every day. With this attitude comes self-confidence and confidence in what you do and show when applying for a job position. Everything else is a matter of a lot of work and a little luck.
