Winners of the Scholarship Competition Organized with Our Partners from the International Studio RyseUp Studios

We are pleased to announce the winners of the scholarship competition, organized in collaboration with the international game studio RyseUp Studios, which specializes in the creation and publication of PC, console, and VR indie games. The competition concluded on July 7th (Sunday), providing an opportunity for all talented creators to showcase their motivation and skills in four main categories: Game Design, Game Programming, Concept Art, and 3D Art.

As part of the competition, we prepared an interesting story and tasks designed to unlock the potential of all candidates, allowing them to demonstrate their creativity and logical thinking. (The competition conditions can be found below.)

The projects were evaluated by a jury of professionals from the gaming industry:

  • Milen Ivanov, founder of RyseUp Studios and director of the remote program at ARC Academy;
  • Elliot ‘Yun’ Egron, game designer at RyseUp Studios;
  • Nikolay Dimitrov, director of the Game Programming program at ARC Academy and technical director at Gameloft Sofia.

After careful and deep analysis, the jury selected the four winners, who will receive a 30% scholarship towards the tuition for their first academic year at ARC Academy. Here they are:

  • Game Design: Denislav Petrov
  • Concept Art: Stefania Pintea and Vihra Ivanova
  • 3D Art: Angela Gitsova

We congratulate the winners for their incredible talent and hard work. Their projects impressed us, and we believe they will continue to achieve great results.

We also thank all the participants in the competition who demonstrated their skills and creativity, and we wish them success in their future endeavors.

The story

The Mysterious Depths of the Ocean

In the depths of the caves of the Indian Ocean, illuminated by moonlight, lie the mysterious treasures of a lost civilization. It was consumed by a mysterious evil lurking in the depths of the underground world. A group of scientists decides to uncover the disappearance of this civilization, but in doing so, they awaken dark forces. The caves turn into a labyrinth of terrifying dangers that lurk at every step.

The tasks

Game Design

The game can be single-player, multiplayer, or co-op. There are no genre restrictions. Your entertainment software can be for a mobile platform, core gaming platform (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, or PC), or even VR software.

– Example design of a level from the game, including a plan or sketch. If your idea is to be realized in an open environment (open world), describe to us the structure of a specific mission and its terrain features/progress design).

– Basic gameplay structure and how it will evolve. (maximum 1 page)

Concept Art

Show us how your imagination and conceptual thinking work by drawing your interpretation of one of the elements listed above – Mystic City, characters – good and bad, etc.

3D Art
