Seaside Sculpt Jam Brought Together Talented 3D Artists from Bulgaria and Romania
A workshop for 3D artists was held in the Bulgarian resort village of Krapets in July. 24 talented 3D artists from Romania and Bulgaria “dived” into the depths of ZBrush and worked tirelessly on the task – of creating a 3D portrait of their neighbor.
Seaside Sculpt Jam was jointly organized by ARC Academy and our partners from the Romanian studio AMC.
The lecturers at the Bootcamp were proven professionals in the game industry in Bulgaria and Romania – Nikolay Naydenov, 3D artist at Gameloft Sofia and lecturer at ARC Academy, Sofia Christov, lecturer on anatomy at ARC Academy, Daniel Martikariu, Character Artist at AMC, Marius Petre, Character Artist at AMC and Claudiu Tănasie, freelance character artist.
Each day of the 3D sculpting camp began with an anatomy lesson, in which the lecturers introduced the participants to the basic proportions of the human face, which every 3D character artist should be familiar with. In sculpture sessions, lecturers explained the process while working on a given model. The afternoons were for individual project work, as the lecturers gave valuable advice and feedback to the participants.
In the evenings the aspiring 3D artists gathered together on the beach or by the pool, where they continued to exchange experiences, share their Artstation profiles, and have fun.
Seaside Sculpt Jam doesn’t end with leaving Krapets (which was definitely tough)! The projects of the participants will be shown at the exhibition within the RADAR new media festival, which will be held in October in Bucharest.
Big thanks to everyone involved in this sea adventure – our partners from AMC, the talented 3D artists, the dedicated lecturers, and our friends from Ardes, who took care of the technical support! See you next summer!
