The contest

At ARC Academy, we are committed to helping young talent enter the motion picture and visual effects industry. We are giving you the opportunity to win a scholarship to study in the VFX & Animation program.

The awards

The winner will receive a scholarship of 50% of the fee for the first year of study in the VFX & Animation program. The runner-up will receive a 30% scholarship, and the third-place will get a 20% scholarship of the first year’s fee.

The program

The VFX film industry is a place for people with diverse talents. The Animation and Visual Effects program developed in partnership with the international VFX studio ReDefine includes disciplines and valuable knowledge for any aspiring VFX artist, regardless of the specific direction they choose to take. It will take you through the entire process of working in visual effects studios – from the basics of 3D modeling, texturing, lighting, animation and rendering to 2D compositing and matte painting (building digital photorealistic images) and the organizational side of production.

ENTER THE COMPETITION

The task:

Create your original fantasy DMP or 3D scene by taking inspiration from the movies Avatar, Dune, or Fantastic Beats.

You can use photos from free image banks – Unsplash, Shutterstock, etc.

Follow the entire DMP or 3D building process from a rough composition (sketch) to a final photorealistic environment. The scene must have great depth and scale and contain all the aspects of an epic Hollywood shot.

Use Adobe Photoshop or any other software you find suitable for your task.

Choose only one of the task options in which you feel more comfortable – DMP or 3D scene. If you decide to work on a 3D scene, send us a screenshot of your created scene. The image must be 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution.

Deadline

We know that deadlines are a great motivator to do your best. So we give you one month to work on your project.

The deadline for submission of the assignment is 23:59 on 11 June 2023.

The jury will review all applications and select a winner. We will announce the scholarship winner on June 19, 2023.

Jury

The jury consists of ReDefine professionals with many years of experience in the VFX industry who recognize the potential for development in the field. They are also lecturers in ARC Academy’s VFX & Animation program.
