

Vladimir Poleganov
Writer, Translator and Screenwriter
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Graduated from clinical psychology and creative writing at SU “St. Kliment Ohridski”. He teaches creative writing in the Master’s program “Digital Media and Video Games” at the Journalism Department (Sofia University) and together with Alexander Popov and Emanuil Tomov leads the course “Science Fiction” in the “English Philology” program in SU “St. Kliment Ohridski”. Since 2020 he has been part of the teaching team at the creative writing summer school for students called “Between the Lines” at the University of Iowa, USA.
He is the author of a collection of short stories – “The Deconstruction of Thomas S.” and a novel – “The Other Dream”. He is a part of the editorial team of the critical anthology “Voices of Bulgarian Diabolism” and editor of the online magazines “Free Poetic Society” and “Gathering of Troubadours”.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
His stories have been published in a number of Bulgarian and English language magazines and anthologies. The short story “The Well” won second prize at the Rashko Sugarev National Short Story Competition, and “The Other Dream” won the Helikon prize.
“The Birds” is included in the anthology “Best European Fiction” by Dalkey Archive Press.
In 2020, he received the outstanding achievement award from the Translators’ Union in Bulgaria for the translation of the novel “Lincoln in the Bard” by George Saunders.
His work as a writer includes the series “Undercover”, the shows “Dennis and Friends” and “The Nikolaos Tsitiridis Show”, among others.
