Game Hackathon welcomes game enthusiasts and professionals in Varna in March
The first edition of Sea Game Jam, organized by the local studio Zariba, invites all game enthusiasts and professionals to an exceptional four-day challenge that will start on Mar. 3 and will end with an award ceremony on Mar. 6. During the four-day challenge of the sea hackathon, you will have the opportunity to participate in a conference with the top lecturers in the game dev sector and a competition for the best Bulgarian Indie game – Sea Game Indie Pitch.
The event will take place from Mar. 3 to Mar. 6 in the University of Economics – Varna, who is a partner of the game hackathon. Sea Game Jam challenges the participants to create a prototype of a game in the time frame of 48 hours on a specific topic that will be selected on the same day.
The hackathon aims to stimulate creativity, teamwork in developers, enthusiasts, and everyone interested in the game developing process. The most creative teams will be rewarded.
“By organizing the Sea Game Jam, we give a start to a new tradition, and we hope that it will attract the attention of Bulgarian game creators as well as international creators. Creativity, bravery, and teamwork are qualities that we will encourage in the students, and we will support the development of talented Bulgarian game creators with the competition for indie studios,” said Radostin Petrov, founder of Zariba. – I believe that there is so much potential in Varna and it can turn into a center for game developers from Bulgaria as well as internationally. Sea Game Jam, an event that will be held twice yearly, is a step in this direction.”
On the first day of the hackathon, the participants can take part in lectures which will be given by professionals on topics related to game development – level design, marketing, monetization, etc. The competition for indie studios Sea Game Indie Pitch will be on Sunday, Mar. 6. All Bulgarian indie game studios and independent developers (no matter the game type they develop) are invited to participate in the event. The winners will have the great opportunity to present their game to professionals in the game industry during one of the biggest events for indie studios in the region, part of the international conference Dev Play 2022 in Romania. Sea Game Indie pitch and Zariba will cover the expenses for two people from the team – travel, accommodation, and tickets for the event.
