Тhe Program

Game Development is a 12-month distance learning program designed for anyone who wants to understand how games are created – from the initial idea and core game mechanics to a working prototype in Unreal Engine and the overall player experience.

Whether you prefer to work independently or in a small team, the program is built around hands-on practice, continuous iteration, and feedback.

The goal of the program is to help you develop your own game concepts, build mechanics and levels, create prototypes in Unreal Engine, and experience a real-world production process.

Game Development

Game Development is the process that transforms an idea into an interactive experience – the process of designing and building the systems that shape the gameplay. It defines how the game world works, what rules govern and drive it, how progression unfolds, and how the player interacts with everything.

At its core lie mechanics design, level creation, systems building, progression, gameplay storytelling, and turning concepts into working prototypes.

Game Developers constantly experiment, test, and refine their solutions. They think simultaneously about the player, the design, and the technical implementation, ensuring that every idea can be transformed into a polished experience. Whether working on an indie project or as part of a major studio, their goal remains the same – to create a world that is engaging to explore and satisfying to play.

For Whom

The program is designed for individuals who are curious about how games work and how engaging experiences are crafted.

It is the perfect fit for you if you love analyzing mechanics, designing systems, establishing rules, and experimenting with ideas. If you often find yourself asking questions like “Why is this level engaging?” or “What keeps the player going?”, you are already starting to think like a game designer.

No prior development experience is required, but a genuine curiosity about different types of games – digital, board games, and RPGs – is essential.

Skills

During the program, you won’t spend months developing a single idea. Instead, you will create multiple prototypes, test different solutions, and develop the skill of rapidly validating and improving concepts.

  • Creating game concepts
  • Designing mechanics and progression
  • Building levels and interactive spaces
  • Developing prototypes in Unreal Engine
  • Managing a production process
  • Presenting your own project

Curriculum

Over 12 months, you will progressively build your game design and prototyping skills. You will acquire the knowledge, techniques, and practical experience needed to create complete interactive projects and thrive in the game industry.

Semester 1: The Core

You will be introduced to the principles of game design, analyze games as systems, and develop the skills to turn ideas into prototypes. In parallel, you will start working with Unreal Engine and build an understanding of the connection between narrative, space, interface, and interaction.

  • Game Design
  • Narrative & Visual Storytelling
  • Level Design
  • Engine Fundamentals
  • UI/UX
  • Visual Scripting & Prototyping

Semester 2: The Production

Once you have built a solid foundation, the focus shifts to developing more complex game systems and navigating a real production process. You will work on economy, balancing, project organization, publishing, and building a community around a game.

  • Game Design Advance
  • Economy Design
  • Production
  • Publishing, Marketing & Community Building

Lab Work: Personal Portfolio

This is a practical phase – during the final 2 months of the 2nd semester – focused on creating a professional portfolio. You will work on individual projects that will showcase your skills and potential.

  • Portfolio Development
  • Soft Skills

Study Format

Distance Learning programs are designed for anyone who wants to dive into the world of creativity – whether you’re a complete beginner or already have some prior experience and skills.

They are conducted entirely online with a flexible schedule and live lectures.

Schedule: 6-8 hours per week for lectures + at least 6 hours additional time for self-study.

Format: Entirely online, with real-time live lectures.

Support: Get personalized feedback from mentors and access to a vibrant community of alumni and professional.

AI in Education

AI is already a vital part of the modern creative process, which is why we integrate it into various stages of the program. You will work with tools for organization, research, ideation, and visualization, while simultaneously developing creative thinking, good taste, and a deep understanding of design principles.

Lecturers

Our program lecturers are active professionals with diverse experience – from mobile games and indie studios to AAA titles. The learning process is interactive, practically oriented and every student receives personalized feedback on their progress.
