Ralitsa Miteva, a student at ARC Academy – for her passion for drawing and video games

Ralitsa Miteva is a student in the Concept Art program at ARC Academy. She has been passionate about art since childhood, which later led her to the Academy. Find out more about her inspiration and dream in the interview.

What inspires you and how did you get into the creative field?

I am inspired by all kinds of games, music videos, movies, plays and books. Also conversations with artists like myself. I’ve been drawing since I was little and that’s how I got into the creative field.

How did you find ARC Academy and why did you decide to apply?

I found out about ARC from a webinar that was held at my high school. I decided to apply because video games have been a passion of mine since I was little, and drawing environments, characters or illustrations related to them has never felt like an obligation. To realize ideas in this way is very liberating.

What do you like most about studying?

What I like most about the training are the teachers – the feedback we get is extremely valuable. They give us guidance on how to navigate the professional environment and how it works, as they are also in the industry and that is very helpful for us.

What is the most important skill a Concept Artist should possess?

Concept artists are concerned with creating a plan and many variations of one thing, be it a character, environment, or creature. Plan, because it’s nice to have the drawings legible and understand what works how, and the many options give a given team a wide choice for the project they’re potentially developing. The most important skill that a concept artist should have, in my opinion, is adaptability, but it is built in everyone over time. Reacting to feedback and required changes to the finished drawing are key.

How do you dream of developing in the industry?

I dream of making my own art book one day. Creating worlds has always been something very interesting to me.

What advice would you give to someone wondering whether to apply to the Academy?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. To try everything, to see which is the right specialty for him.

If you, like Ralitsa, enjoy creating environments, characters and creatures, apply during the early application and become part of the ARC Academy Pre-Program for the 2024/2025 academic year.
