Sara Ivanova – Game Dev (Advanced)

Sarah Ivanova of Game Dev Advanced values her time. She enjoys dancing and drawing, and she is venturing into the world of video games for the first time via YouTube, the world’s largest video sharing platform.

At this time she’s already heard about ARC Academy and her artistic nature pushes her towards the idea of professional growth in the game industry. That’s how she decides to apply at the Academy.

She admits that the collision with large amounts of new and unknown information was the most difficult challenge for her.

How Sarah walks through her path at the Academy, you’ll find out with our interview with her:

Tell us more about yourself, your hobbies, and what you enjoy doing.

I’ll be dancing or writing if I’m not drawing. And if I don’t do either of those things, I’ll find time to reorganize one of my collections. If nothing else, I value my alone time.

What influenced your decision to attend ARC Academy and work in the gaming industry?

Since I was a child, my favorite website on the internet was YouTube, and it was there that I first encountered the world of video games. And, when I consider my interest in  arts, I believe I can find a future in that industry. I learned about ARC Academy at this time, and it was the ideal time to go in that direction.

What difficulties have you faced during your time at the Academy?

The limits I set for myself are without a doubt the most difficult thing for me to overcome. Though I still can’t let go of them completely, ARC helped me realize that I should try working on the case.

What, in your opinion, is the most valuable quality that an artist should have?

Without a doubt, the absence of failure fear and a great deal of patience! It’s important to try even if you think it won’t work out because you might be surprised by the outcome. To summarize, everything difficult simply means that it will take a long time.

What was the most difficult aspect of your education?

A shocking wave of unknown information washed over me. Many new things that I couldn’t make time for back then.

Is there a disconnect between your initial expectations and what you actually liked best about game development?

I liked the 2D Art section from the start, and I’m not surprised that I still do. But I’ve developed an interest in some technical aspects of the game development process, which I’m only now beginning to investigate.

If you want to begin your career in the game industry, you can sign up for our early bird application session for class 2022/2021 until March 31st. Everyone who signs up during this period will have the opportunity to be a part of the ARC Academy mentors’ program. Students in the mentors’ program will receive tasks and feedback from their mentors. The program will assist them in beginning their education at the Academy with greater confidence and preparedness.
