The students of “John Atanasov” immersed themselves in the world of game programming

On February 26, we welcomed students from the Sofia Vocational High School of Electronics “John Atanasov” to the ARC Academy campus. Especially for them, we organized a lecture on “Game Programming”, which was led by Boyan Spassov, a Lead game developer at Gameloft Sofia and lecturer at the Academy. He shared his knowledge and experience with them, detailing the ins and outs of the profession and the benefits of studying in the Game Programming program at ARC.

The lecture started with a demo showcasing the internal tools they use at Gameloft in their workflow for profiling, optimizing and debugging games. Boyan showed several different resources, one of them being the “Tracy” profiler, which can be used by beginners. The students also learned how studio professionals implement the various codes in the games to make the characters move, jump and run.

The visit ended with a discussion about the requirements to work in companies like Gameloft and what skills and qualities are valued in this industry. Students had the opportunity to ask questions, meet the lecturer and explore our campus.

This visit provided valuable information to the students and inspired them to unleash their potential in the world of game programming. We are glad that we had the opportunity to show young people the possibilities of development in the field.
