Veronica Koycheva, lecturer at ARC Academy – about art as an intended part of an artist’s life

Veronica Koycheva graduated from 3D Art at ARC Academy and will be part of the lecturers in the Preliminary Course for 2024/2025. For herself, she says that aesthetics attracts her and she has been involved in art since she was a child. What motivated her to develop in the creative field and to be a lecturer at the Academy, find out in the interview.
What projects have you worked on so far?
I have several freelance projects behind me – digital portraits, NFT collections and video game illustrations. I have also drawn covers for collections. One of my most recent project involvements was the creation of ACTIA, where I was part of the 3D team and took a lead role in developing the game’s trailer. So far, this is the most enjoyable and ambitious project I have worked on. We managed to create something amazing in the little time we had. Recently, I was also a lecturer in one of ARC Online’s courses – 3D Art with Blender. I am sure that this experience will allow me to prepare the students best for the upcoming adventures at the Academy.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learned professionally and while studying at ARC Academy?
Art is a lifelong learning craft. It’s not enough just to draw whatever you like if you want to do it professionally. Building discipline takes time and effort, and there will always be better artists. The important thing is not to give up and to continue to absorb knowledge from people who inspire you.
Building contacts is also significant. Working in a team may not always be pleasant, so it is important to be able to get along with colleagues, make compromises when necessary, but also not be afraid to express your creative point of view. And last but not least – movement! Since a lot of my work requires me to be in front of a computer, working out helps me stay toned.

Do you play for fun? What are your favorite games right now?
I like video games, although I’m not the biggest gamer. I rather prefer watching movies and series. “Portal 2” has a special place in my heart – I like the story and the humor. Currently, I mainly play “League of Legends”, “The Binding of Isaac”, and also “Battleblock Theater” from time to time.

What inspired you to be a lecturer in the ARC Academy Preliminary Course and what can the students in your class expect?
I remember being a little stressed when I applied. I was curious to know if my skills were enough, and how familiar I should be with the subject being studied at the Academy.
I want the course to be not only useful but also easy to digest, providing a solid foundation upon which future students can build. The purpose of both lectures is to introduce students to the key features of Blender, through a quick introduction to the program and a hands-on exercise to help absorb the new information.
If you have an interest in art and want to turn your passion for creativity into a successful career, explore our programs and apply during the Early Admission by enrolling in the 2024/2025 Preliminary Course.
