In the 2023/2024 academic year, students at ARC Academy presented their completed video games during the Gold Presentation
As the academic year drew to a close, students in programs in Game Design, Concept Art, and 3D Art showcased their finished video games at ARC Academy’s final Gold Presentation. This event marked the culmination of their two-year education, offering students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills to a panel of esteemed professionals from the gaming industry.
During the final semester, students progressed through four stages – Pitch, Alpha, Beta, and Gold – receiving valuable feedback at each stage to refine their game projects according to industry standards. At the June 15th presentation, students impressed both the Academy staff and the jury with their completed games.
Game Projects:
The first team, “Yunache” presented their 3rd personal adventure game inspired by Bulgarian mythology and folklore. The protagonist, Yunache, enters a dream world where he discovers a magical book that must be returned to its rightful owner. The game captivated everyone with its narrative and beautiful visual elements.
The second team, “Candy Chaos,” thrilled attendees with their dynamic 1st person shooter game. The protagonist, Penny, defends vegetables from attacks by evil candies. The game stood out for its fast-paced gameplay, creative art style, and engaging mechanics that captured the audience’s attention.
Jury:
The jury evaluating the projects consisted of industry professionals with extensive experience, working in leading studios both domestically and internationally. Present at the presentations were Antony Christov, Milen Ivanov – founder of RyseUp Studios, Borislav Bogdanov – art director at SnapShot Games, Georgi Dinchev – studio director at Creative Assembly Sofia, Nikolay Dimitrov – technical director at Gameloft Sofia, Alexander Lene – Studio Lead Game Designer at Gameloft Sofia, Tanko Shokerov – studio manager at Gameloft Sofia, Ivelin Trifonov – art director at Gameloft Sofia, Stani Milev – creative producer at Chase a Cloud, Sava Komitski – creative director at Chase a Cloud, Alexander Filipov – Studio Lead Game Designer at Beast Burst Entertainment, and Adrien Bachi – Founder of Chibi Phoenix. Throughout the event, these professionals guided students and provided objective feedback.
Emotions from the Day:
The day of the final project presentations was filled with emotions, excitement, and pride. ARC Academy’s students showcased their skills and creativity, demonstrating readiness to enter the professional gaming industry. The jury unanimously agreed that the students had done outstanding work and achieved significant progress in a short period.
